NSFW Titles

One of the top trending stories at the moment is The Internet is Fucked. Sure, the title caught my attention and I'm interested in the topic but, come on, the author could have some restraint. I'm at work and usually I can just avoid articles that look like they might trip someone's sensitivity meter until I'm home. With this type of approach to titles it's too easy for me to offend some poor innocent while scaning articles and eating my turkey and cheese sandwich. Do we really need to have blue language in the title itself? The Verge community has guidelines for this:

  • NSFW material: Nope, not allowed. Even images or links that could be considered borderline are not acceptable...[t]his goes for porngraphic material, vile language, gore and generally gross stuff. [emphasis added]
Shouldn't The Verge hold itself to the same standards?
