Graham MacIndoe was a cocaine and heroin addict who took a camera and put it on a timer, capturing his own drug rituals and darkest behaviors. The resulting photos are sobering and humanizing, providing a story of drug addiction through the eyes of the user, rather than an outsider. But the photos are only half the story: the piece is written by MacIndoe's girlfriend Susan Stellin, who saw him during all the lying and the deception and asks him about it in a revealing Q&A. Read the entire feature in New York Magazine to find out how MacIndoe became so addicted so quickly, and the moment he finally decided to quit.
