Problem with Transcend pendrive on Windows 8.1 Pro
I am having problem getting my pen drive (Transcend 8GB JetFlash Drive TS8GJF300) properly detected in Windows 8.1 Pro (and also in Windows 8). It either shows "You need to format the disk in drive before you can use it" error or "Please insert a disk into Removable Disk" when trying to access file system. I have no such problem when connecting other pen drives.
It works fine:
- in Windows 7 or earlier versions of Windows.
- if I connect the pen drive before starting/restarting the computer.
It doesn't work:
- if I remove(safely) the pen drive and re-plug it in.
- if I insert it after starting Windows.
It also works if I reset the hub from the "Advanced" tab of USB Root Hub containing the pen drive from Device Manager, but after I remove the pen drive and re-plug it in, same problem occurs until I reset the hub again.
The problem I am having is same as described in this thread: Problem with Transcend 8GB USB 2.0 JetFlash Drive TS8GJF300 (even the pen drive is exact same).
I have tried all suggestions on that thread (except Linux one, that one is silly).
One strange problem I noticed is that the driver is really old (I have tried updating driver online from device manager, which shows the driver is up to date!). The USB Mass Storage Device driver version 6.3.9600.16475 is dated 21-Jun-06.
