Yahoo's local search results now include business listings, user reviews, and star ratings from Yelp. The new local data is displayed across desktop, smartphones, and tablets. "We’re always looking to build great partnerships to provide a richer experience for our users," said Yahoo's Anand Chandrasekaran in a blog post. The partnership serves as a way for Yahoo to surface more relevant content for local businesses from popular services like Yelp. It also likely spells doom for any potential partnership between Yahoo and Foursquare, a pairing that was rumored by BuzzFeed earlier this year.

Microsoft's Bing (which Yahoo uses to power its search engine) stills leads the pack with its social sidebar, which pulls in relevant details from sites like Yelp, OpenTable, Facebook, and Twitter. Thanks to a $15 million investment, Foursquare will soon join that list. Marissa Mayer and Yahoo clearly still have work to do in building out the company's search product, but providing a quick overview of local businesses with Yelp's help is a good start. Yahoo is also rolling out a new image viewer that pulls in business photos sourced from Yelp and other partners.
