Why we chose to build our core software business on the open web instead of on a closed app store platform
We've built a handful of commercial Windows apps - both for Windows desktop and Windows Phone (7 and 8) - but have recently made the hard decision to get out of the Windows software development business. It's just not making us enough money, and it's costing us a lot in terms of time and support, to keep going.
Instead, we'll be focusing on building a sustainable software company with products that solely operate in a web browser. I wrote about this move at Why we chose to build our core software business on the open web instead of on a closed app store platform.
If there are other Windows developers or Windows software company business owners in a similar situation or who have made the same decision, I'd love to hear from you.
