Star Wars isn't the only famed franchise with casting news this week: the new Terminator reboot is adding Matt Smith to its cast. Smith is best known for his performance as The Doctor in Doctor Who, though he stepped down after this past season, making way for veteran UK actor Peter Capaldi to take his place. According to Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions, Smith will play a new character with a "strong connection" to John Connor, with Deadline reporting that he will feature in all three films of the new Terminator trilogy.

Smith joins a host of well-known names and faces, including original series star Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones), Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) and J.K. Simmons (Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy). A Good Day To Die Hard's Jai Courtney stars as Kyle Reese, the role played by Michael Biehn in the 1984 original. The new Terminator is set to arrive on July 1st, 2015 — but we hope to hear more about the movie this July at San Diego Comic-Con.
