There's nothing else on the planet like the plant called Welwitschia mirabilis. The ancient tree looks like little more than a pile of leaves, and it's only found in the extremely arid desert regions of Namibia. The Welwitschia is the only species in its genus and its order, making it incredibly unique — check out NPR for the full story on this remarkable organism.
