Is no one else interested in Android Auto?

There seems to be very little activity on the forums about this, non drivers? This is what I've been wanting for my car for YEARS now.

My biggest worry is that you won't be able to easily retrofit current cars not equipped with android auto.

In my personal use case, I use google maps and google play music all the time. But I perform all the controls directly from my phone. My car has a decent sized touch display in the center, it has volume controls and forward backward controls right on the steering wheel (pretty basic stuff), a perfectly functional microphone built in for voice commands. It seems to have all the basics to make android auto work perfectly fine, but all that raw capability is constrained by not being able to fully communicate with my phone. In car systems will never be able to iterate as fast as a phone unless they are running android/ios just like other devices.
