One Word…OEMs.
There are several new windows phones this year

with so many low end devices now, and flagships becoming cheaper, its possible that the sales may propel the installed base from around 80 million to 100-200 million by the end of 2014 (optimistic outlook)
This will also give microsoft more reason to work on their services and increase quality of all apps. A rising tide lifts all ships and all that…what do you think?

On the other hand, if it all goes to skit in the next two years, then WP is dead and birued and iOS will be the new WP(i.e MS premium platform)
