No More 3.5mm Headphone Jacks?
Forbes and 9 to 5 Mac are reporting that Apple has introduced "a new specification for manufacturers in its Made-For-iPhone/iPad/iPod (MFi) program" that would allow headphones to connect using the Lightning Connector, getting rid of the current 3.5mm headphone jack. This move will allow for better
music sound quality,"capable of receiving lossless stereo 48 kHz digital audio output from Apple devices and sending mono 48 kHz digital audio input" according to 9 to 5 Mac.
Neil Young's Pono device is gaining popularity so it makes perfect sense that one of the first things to come from this acquisition is improved sound across future devices.
