So I accidentally formatted my external drive while trying to make a partition for Yosemite.
I knew what I was doing at the beginning when I added a 35 gb partition for Yosemite, but then for some reason later selected the drive to make as 1 partition and accidentally clicked to make that happen in disk utility.
Sadly, I lost nearly 300 GB of documents and other data.
So I looked around for ways to unformat or get the data back. I haven't added any new files or done anything to the empty drives. I think it was a basic quick format.
I found a software mentioned online called Data Rescue.
Is this is a good mac recovery software to buy?
What is your past experience with this type of experience and can you recover all of your files easily?
Will the folder hierarchy and names come as before? Worried this might not be possible.
Do you guys recommend any other solutions or apps?
Thanks a lot in advance.
