Jim Carpenter is a computational necromancer. Over at The Atlantic, Ben Edwards writes about how the 38-year-old programmer resurrected a piece of the now-defunct Prodigy using a programming language called Python and a cache file laden with data. The article also explores the history of the '90s online service and the "Rube Goldbergian" complexity of its architecture.
