Future Android Updates

With Android L getting a preview, do you imagine that this will be how updates are handled from here on out?

Will all updates, minus maintenance updates, be handled in a vastly different way than what we've become accustomed to? Usually we recieve updates whenever Google decides to send one out, even if it only contains a few updated features, and then 3-5 months later they launch another update with several more features.

Is Google going to adopt a more iOS approach to updating, leaving big feature rich updates to a yearly fashion? This would of course help with the adoration rate of the newest Android builds, as OEMs, wouldn't need to worry about several major updates a year.

Your thoughts?
