What would a terraforming machine look like? This short film imagines the process as a robotic ballet, in which a painstakingly detailed spacecraft gathers resources and reassembles itself to transform a Mars-like desert into a jungle. The spacecraft itself is inspired by the Mars rover, but incorporates biological touches like bug wings and larval sacs. New Zealand animator Richard Mans worked for seven years to make the film, including post-production work from Peter Jackson's Weta Digital.
