Telltale Games releases new details about 'Game of Thrones' video game series

Telltale Games has released a few new details for its episodic video game adaptation of Game of Thrones, which it confirmed late last year. In addition to reposting an earlier trailer, Telltale added a teaser banner that quotes a section of the fifth Song of Ice and Fire novel, A Dance with Dragons, about Deepwood Motte, a castle in the north of Westeros that plays a relatively small part in several of the books. And Telltale's tweet emphasizes one name in particular: House Forrester. first we've seen of the series for a while, especially since Telltale has been busy juggling the second season of The Walking Dead, the first season of Fables adaptation The Wolf Among Us, and an upcoming adventure game based on the Borderlands series.

The fourth season of the Game of Thrones TV adaptation concluded this summer, and if Telltale holds to its release date of 2014, the game's first chapter will arrive before we see a fifth. Like The Walking Dead, it's likely to explore presently unexplored areas of Westeros, with a combination of action, adventure game mechanics, and dialogue. Lots and lots of dialogue.

Correction August 29th, 2014 11:55am: The original version of this post cited both the trailer and the banner as new; the trailer is actually part of the original announcement from last year. The post reflects this now.
