Apple says it's working "around the clock" on a fix to its 8.0.1 update, which went out Wednesday and proceeded to wreak havoc for owners of the company's newest iPhones. Apple now says a working version of that update will be ready "in the next few days." In the meantime, the company has outlined a way to restore both cell service and Touch ID to unlucky users who downloaded the faulty update. The company's using a similar method to the workaround that was discovered earlier today.

Per a company spokesperson:

We have a workaround for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users who lost cellular service and Touch ID functionality today after updating to iOS 8.0.1. Affected users can reinstall iOS 8 through iTunes, for more information visit http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6487. We apologize for the great inconvenience experienced by users, and are working around the clock to prepare iOS 8.0.2 with a fix for the issue, and will release it as soon as it is ready in the next few days.

"We apologize for the great inconvenience."

iOS 8.0.1 went out as a surprise early Wednesday, and upgraders on iPhone 6 and 6 Plus quickly discovered that the update killed their cellular signal, as well as access to Touch ID. The update originally promised to fix a handful of bugs, including one that kept Apple from publishing any third-party HealthKit apps on the App Store, as well as improving reliability on the reachability feature on the two new iPhone 6 models.
