Starting now, you can pay $9.99 per month and never see another ad on YouTube again. The company's YouTube Red subscription service, which removes ads and includes other perks like offline playback and background audio, officially launches today in the United States. Beginning next year, YouTube Red will also offer exclusive content from some of the platform's biggest stars.

We took an in-depth look at the creation of YouTube Red earlier this month. You can subscribe directly from a PC, Android, or iOS device — but the monthly cost is higher ($12.99) if you're signing up on an Apple device. A single YouTube Red membership works across all devices (smartphones, TV apps, tablets, and PCs), and you can get started with a one-month free trial. That should make it easier to decide whether ad-free YouTube is worth adding to your slate of other monthly subscriptions like Netflix and Spotify. Actually, if you decide to pay for YouTube Red, you can probably ditch Spotify (or Apple Music) since the monthly fee also gets you full access to Google Play Music. To sign up, head to the settings section of YouTube's mobile apps.
