After a long-running, conspicuous absence, Firefox is now available for iOS. Mozilla announced last year that the browser would be coming to the platform, launched a public preview in September, and is now making it available to all iPhone and iPad users.

Firefox has been available on Android for years, but a dispute over the use of Apple's standards prevented Mozilla from making the switch. Mozilla ultimately changed its position, and the browser is now available. Some features new users can expect include private browsing (only available in iOS9), sync across devices, and "intelligent searches."

Mozilla will, of course, have to deal with entrenched mobile browsers like Safari and Chrome. But the final release will certainly be welcome news for desktop Firefox users hoping to take the same experience on the go.
