Jon Stewart is heading back to work. HBO just announced that the former Daily Show host has signed a four-year production pact with the cable company. The comedian's next job will be to focus on short-form digital content that'll appear on HBO Go and HBO NOW, with a window to make other film and TV programs down the line.

"I’m so excited to be working with Richard [Plepler], Michael and the entire HBO family," Stewart said in the official statement. "Appearing on television 22 minutes a night clearly broke me. I’m pretty sure I can produce a few minutes of content every now and again."

According to the release, Stewart's job will be to "view current events through his unique prism," which likely means he'll be continuing his war on bullshit with a little help from HBO. The comedian is working with Los Angeles-based cloud graphics company OTOY, which has done motion-capture work on films like Spider-Man 3 and The Social Network. While it's not clear if he'll be behind the desk again in some fashion, the content will most likely cater to his sensibilities — the same that informed both Stephen Colbert and John Oliver in their respective projects.

Stewart stepped down from The Daily Show last summer, ceding his position to Trevor Noah. Since then, he's kept a relatively low profile while Noah slowly made the show his own. With this announcement, it's clear Stewart is ready to head back into the fray. Just not every single day.
