Twitter begins displaying diverse emoji

Twitter’s about to get a lot more colorful. The social media company announced this week that all emoji skin tones will now display on its website. Other new emoji, including the thinking face and floating businessman, will show up, too.

Twitter arguments will likely never be the same with the middle finger emoji now making its way online. The diverse emoji aren’t yet available on TweetDeck, although Twitter’s design manager said it’d be coming soon.

While the emoji skin tones and other important emoji — like the taco and hot dog — came as separate Unicode 8.0 updates for iOS users, most Android users remain 8.0-less. Google updated its Nexus devices with some new emoji this week, but doesn't yet support diverse emoji. Other Android device users will likely be taco- and unicorn-less for the foreseeable future.
