Sony's virtual reality headset has a new name. Previously referred to as Project Morpheus, the hardware has been rebranded as PlayStation VR. The Japanese company announced the hardware's new name at its Tokyo Game Show press conference today, and confirmed that the hardware, along with a number of games that utilize it, will be available to try on the show floor.

PlayStation VR will compete with virtual reality headsets from a number of manufacturers, including Facebook's Oculus Rift, and the Vive, developed by HTC and Valve. Sony has yet to announce a specific launch date for PlayStation VR, but had previously stated it will be out in 2016.
