Netflix and Virgin America have joined forces to offer free in-flight Wi-Fi to access Netflix's full catalog of movies and TV shows on flights with Virgin America's new high-speed Wi-Fi service. The free internet access will be available on Virgin America planes outfitted with ViaSat Wi-Fi, which is "eight to ten times faster" than traditional in-flight Wi-Fi, according to Virgin America.

It may seem strange for Netflix to be subsidizing in-flight Wi-Fi, but the company has been adamant that it will not add offline support to the service. Promoting faster internet in one of the most common places where people clamor for offline Netflix is smart, but it won't end the call for an easier way to access the world's leading video subscription service when you're not connected to the web.

The free promotion will run until March 2nd, 2016.
