"Weird Al" Yankovic has found his next comedic outlet. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Grammy-winning musical satirist has been tapped as co-host and bandleader for IFC's quirky late night series Comedy Bang! Bang!. Yankovic is replacing Kid Cudi in the role, and will appear alongside comedian Scott Aukerman for the series' fifth season.

"As Comedy Bang! Bang! enters its fifth season, IFC continues to be proud of how the series subversively reinvents the late-night talk show and attracts some of the biggest names in Hollywood, all thanks to comedic Renaissance man, Scott Aukerman," said IFC president Jennifer Caserta in an official statement. "We are thrilled to welcome Weird Al to Comedy Bang! Bang!, as he joins us straight from his global tour in support of his first number one album. This is big news, people!"

"This is big news, people!"

It is big news. The 56-year-old Yankovic has garnered a devoted cult following over his nearly 40-year career, thanks to such hits as "Amish Paradise" and "White & Nerdy." His 2014 record Mandatory Fun, for which he released eight music videos in eight days, went on to hit #1 on Billboard in its debut week and earned a Grammy for best comedy album the following year. Since then, Yankovic has stated that he's done with releasing traditional albums, instead opting to release new music online on the fly. "I feel like, for the kind of music that I do, releasing things digitally as soon as I think of them is a bit more efficient in terms of getting my music out," he told Forbes last year. Being on TV should hopefully help keep the music coming.
