The Force Awakens meets Calvin and Hobbes, hearts melt

Brian Kesinger is combining the biggest film of 2015 with arguably the greatest comic of all time. Over the past week, the Marvel and Disney artist has filled his Instagram account with a mash-up of The Force Awakens and Calvin and Hobbes.

Kesinger has posted six comics that look strikingly similar to the work of Bill Waterson, featuring Rey, BB-8, Poe, and others. The best work of the comics draws lines between the two stories. In one image, Calvin and his imaginary friend Hobbes are replaced with Kylo Ren and his dead idol, Darth Vader. In another, a tiny Ren stands before a gutted snowman, while Han Solo says to Leia, "Y'know, he gets this from your side of the family."

Disney artists drawing fan art for Star Wars is approaching trend status. Last week, we reported on Griselda and Norman Lemay, Disney artists who have published to Instagram drawings of Star Wars characters with their cats.
