In order to publicize an upcoming exhibition on the domestic spaces painted by Vincent van Gogh, the Art Institute of Chicago has recreated one of van Gogh's most famous paintings — The Bedroom — as a rentable room on Airbnb. The room accommodates two from $10 a night (a steal frankly), and, well, it looks just like the goddamn painting. Right down to the copper-green streaks on the floor, the wicker-seated chairs, the pictures on the wall, and the bedside table with jugs, bowls, and brush. And, of course, it's just around the corner from the museum itself, if you feel inspired to visit.

Here's how it compares to the painting (one of three that van Gogh did of the room):

But what should you do in such a masterpiece of a room? We've got a few suggestions:

  • Take looooads of selfies. van Gogh loved self portraits (he painted more than 30 between 1886 and 1889), and they're now some of his best-known work. Accessorize with straw hats and pipes.
  • Be a commercial failure. Try not to close any high-powered business deals while staying in this room: van Gogh only sold a single painting during his lifetime, The Red Vineyard. Fame came after he died.
  • Be prolific. Whatever you do, do a lot of it. van Gogh created over 900 paintings in little over a decade of work — despite only starting his career at age 27.
  • Definitely don't cut off your ear. That would be silly. If you want to be true to the great painter, only cut off a part of your ear. (Or to really honor van Gogh, just donate to a mental health charity instead.)
