The show is getting its belated series finale on July 23rd

The last episode of HBO's graceful gay drama Looking aired in March 2015, but the show is being given the series finale it deserves with a movie-length special on July 23rd. The network released the trailer for Looking: The Movie this afternoon, and it puts the show's three main characters in position to tie up all of the loose ends left hanging when the show was canceled after its second season. Patrick (Jonathan Groff) is back in San Francisco after scurrying off to Colorado, and he still needs to figure out his love life; Agustín (Frankie J. Alvarez) is about to commit to someone, and he's terrified; Dom (Murray Bartlett) is wearing gorgeous fleeces and vaping in bed. (Doesn't that sound nice?)

Looking was ultimately doomed by its poor ratings, but the show was lauded for the naturalistic way it depicted gay life and romance. And because the show's creative lead Andrew Haigh (Weekend, 45 Years) is back to direct and co-write Looking: The Movie, there's no reason to believe its stories are going to end on some newly sour note. The special is debuting on HBO on July 23rd at 10PM ET, so you have just over a month to blast through the show's two short seasons. Start watching! You can do it!
