Instagram is adding automatic in-app text translation

Instagram will soon start translating comments, captions posted alongside its pictures, and user bios. The image-sharing social network announced that it would be adding the feature in the coming month, automatically translating comments and descriptions to the user's chosen language. Text will be machine translated from the original language to the language selected in the user's app settings, and will be visible by tapping a new "see translation" option under comments and captions.

The addition of the feature brings Instagram up to speed with other major social networks like Twitter and Facebook, both of whom have featured automatic machine translation for some time now. Instagram says the option will arrive in July, but may not appear on some older posts, or for languages it can't detect or doesn't support yet.
