As Apple races to add to the number of third-party apps that Siri can search through on Apple TV, Google is today checking off an overdue one over on Android TV. The company has announced that shows and movies from Netflix now appear when you use Android TV's universal search function. Yes, this is something that's been possible with the latest Apple TV from the start, but it's nice that those who favor Google's set-top box software now have the same capability.

Netflix content will come up as a card with nice artwork in the background and cast information just below. So jumping right into the new season of Orange Is The New Black just got a little faster. The Netflix app for Android TV hasn't yet been updated, and a tweet from Google's official Android account doesn't specify exactly when Netflix will be added to universal search. But odds are the feature should be arriving imminently.
