Twitter will begin letting you add virtual stickers to the photos you post, the company said today. Hundreds are available at launch, including the standard Unicode emoji and some original work from Twitter. The company is also creating collections of stickers that are pegged to the time of year and events — right now there are stickers for graduation and "the start of summer," for example. Stickers are a common feature of social networks and messaging apps, but Twitter has given them one unique twist: you can search them like hashtags. Tap on a sticker inside a tweet and you'll be taken to a new timeline that shows you how it's being used around the world.

If you've ever added a sticker to a Snapchat post, Twitter's sticker feature will feel familiar. You can resize them, rotate them, and add multiple stickers to each post. You'll be able to add stickers from the Twitter apps for Android and iOS, and view and search them from the web. The feature is rolling out now and will be available to everyone within a couple weeks, the company says.

They are probably a good thing, in that as best as we can tell, they are not actively a bad thing.

How many points should we expect Twitter's stock to move today, based solely on the belated addition of stickers?

Probably between 0 and 0.5 percent in either direction.

Will search be enabled on the eggplant emoji?

Yes.
