La La Land just won the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, beating out the likes of Deadpool, Florence Foster Jenkins, Sing Street, and 20th Century Women. The film won in all seven of its categories, including Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Director, making it the winningest film of the evening.

La La Land, written and directed by Damien Chazelle (Whiplash), follows Mia and Sebastian, played by Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, respectively, as they fall in love while striving to make it in Los Angeles. The film is earnest in its love for classic Hollywood musicals like Singin’ in the Rain, and critics hailed it early and often as the best film of 2016. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association clearly agreed, and if the Globes’ history as an Oscars bellwether holds true, it could point to a very big February for La La Land.

“This is a film for dreamers, and I think that hope and creativity are two of the most important things in the world, and that’s what this film is about,” Stone said while receiving her award for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical. “And to any creative person that’s had a door slammed in their face... or anybody, anywhere, that feels like giving up sometimes, but finds it in themselves to get up and keep moving forward: I share this with you.”
