I’m taking over the trailer round-up for Jake this week, and in an effort to follow his tradition of reminiscing about a movie he saw this week, let me talk about one I saw a week or so ago: John Wick 2. John Wick 2 is a movie about a man with a dog, but as far as I know, it’s not similar to A Dog’s Purpose. Here’s what I didn’t like about John Wick 2: the fight scenes looked like the same footage on a loop, the PATH train was supposed to be the C train, making stops the C train doesn’t make, and the movie was approximately 4 hours long. Immediately after the movie ended, I had the flu. That’s not a joke, just a terrible fact about my physical reaction to John Wick 2. I have been told the first one is better.

Anyway if you don’t want to go see John Wick 2, there’s a bunch of other stuff coming out in the future, so you could just wait for that. Here are 10 trailers worth watching this week:

The Discovery

The Discovery is Netflix’s newest cinematic offering, about millions of people who end their own lives in order to reach a “new plane of existence” after an afterlife is scientifically confirmed. It stars Jason Segel, Rooney Mara, Robert Redford, Jesse Plemons, and Riley Keough.

The movie hits Netflix on March 31st.

Bates Motel

A&E’s Bates Motel just began its fifth and final season this week. According to this trailer, Rihanna makes an appearance this season, so it seems as good a time as any to start watching.

Alien: Covenant

Okay here’s the thing, this isn’t technically a trailer. It’s a prologue to the newest Alien movie, which introduces the characters who join the Covenant to start a new world. It looks like a return to Ridley Scott’s original Alien stylings, which you might find either exciting or safe. Either way, the movie’s coming out on May 19th.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword

Directed by Guy Ritchie, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is about royal lineage, a sword, and removing a sword from a stone. You know the story. Oh also apparently David Beckham is in it? It’s in theaters May 12th.

Burning Sands

Burning Sands is about a group of college students trying to make it through the hazing process of pledging a fraternity. It stars Trevor Jackson, Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Alfre Woodard, Steve Harris, Tosin Cole, and DeRon Horton.

It’ll be out on Netflix on March 10th.

Without Name

From Irish director Lorcan Finnegan, Without Name is about a man who sets up a temporary residence in an old house in the middle of a forest. Seems like a classic horror movie setting, but the strange tension in the trailer suggests it’s going to be a lot stranger than that.

It’s in theaters May 5th.

Atomica

Syfy’s upcoming thriller Atomica is set at a nuclear power plant in the near future, where a safety inspector has been tasked with determining why the plant suddenly went offline. It stars Dominic Monaghan, Tom Sizemore, and Sarah Habel, and opens in select theaters March 17th.

Trapped

Directed Vikramaditya Motwane, Trapped is about a man who gets locked in his apartment. (He is on the phone at the beginning of the trailer, but presumably something happens to make it unusable). In theaters March 17th.

My Entire High School Sinking into the Sea

My Entire High School Sinking into the Sea is about what it sounds like. There’s lots of famous people in it! Like Jason Schwartzman, Lena Dunham, Reggie Watts, Maya Rudolph, and Susan Sarandon.

In theaters April 14th.

Fast and Furious 8

THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOOOOOOWWWWWWN. On April 14th.
