Fox today confirmed that The X-Files is coming back for a limited 11th season starring Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny as Agents Mulder and Scully. The series will be executive produced by show creator Chris Carter, as was the 10th season that revived the show for a limited, six-episode 10th season last year. This go around, Fox has ordered a 10-episode season.

“Iconic characters, rich storytelling, bold creators — these are the hallmarks of great TV shows. And they are some of the reasons why The X-Files has had such a profound impact on millions of fans worldwide,” David Madden, Fox Broadcasting Company president, said in a press release. “Chris’ creativity, along with the brilliant work of David and Gillian, continue to propel this pop culture phenomenon, and we can’t wait to see what fresh mysteries Mulder and Scully uncover in this next chapter of The X-Files.”
