Google's been incredibly quiet about its Google TV platform since it announced that it would get Honeycomb back at Google I/O in June. However, it seems that silence is about to end fairly soon. Speaking at an entertainment and content tradeshow, Google TV Director of Content Donagh O'Mailey told the audience that the next version of the TV operating system would launch "within the next three or four weeks." He didn't share any more details about hardware partners -- Samsung and Vizio are supposedly prepping new sets -- but he did share that there are 250 apps optimized for Google TV, which will be available in the Market that's included in the new update. It sounds like some real progress, now let's just hope the availability date doesn't slip again.
