Motorola Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx update includes Android 2.3.6 and better 4G performance
The first major update for Motorola's Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx will upgrade the phones to Android 2.3.6 as well as squash some bugs and improve performance. As was speculated before, the succinctly named 6.12.173.XT912.Verizon.en.US. update applies to both the Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx, and can be downloaded OTA. If you applied it back when it leaked a couple of weeks ago, you're not in for any big surprises. For everyone else, the update will improve Mobile Hotspot capabilities and security, fix some visual voicemail errors, improve 4G performance, and improve battery life when using Bluetooth headsets.
