Apple releases iOS-like AirPort Utility alongside firmware update
Apple released AirPort Utility 6.0 this week, alongside a firmware update for its 802.11n AirPort Express, Extreme and Time Capsule models. AirPort Utility has been overhauled on Mac OS X Lion to match the iOS version, but only works on Lion and 802.11n AirPort units. AirPort Utility 5.6 is available for non-802.11n variants.
Apple's AirPort base station and Time Capsule firmware got a bump to version 7.6.1 this week, too. The update fixes a wireless performance issue on all 802.11n AirPort Express, Extreme and Time Capsule models, and Apple has also provided support for remote access to an AirPort disk or Time Capsule using an iCloud account.
