Target rumored to host Apple mini-stores starting this year
Here's a potentially fun rumor for the pre-CES weekend (of course, that depends on your definition of fun). If sources at Apple Insider are correct, Apple will be opening new retail spaces within select Target locations. The company currently has a similar deal with Best Buy, which lets people in smaller metro areas access Apple employees and products through their local box store. If all goes according to plan, an initial 25 "stores within stores" should launch sometime this year. As Tim Carmody points out over at Wired, the two companies make a pretty good fit: Ron Johnson, who set up the first retail Apple stores, was lured away from Target by Steve Jobs himself, and the latter company is often the first selected to carry Apple's new products.
