When the trailer for Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim hit last month, gaming fans were both delighted and confused by the unmistakable presence of GLaDOS, the malevolent and omnipresent computerized being at the heart of the Portal series. In an interview with the Toronto Sun, del Toro confirmed that voice actor Ellen McLain is part of the movie, though her voice will be less GLaDOS-esque in the film's final cut. "I wanted very much to have her, because I'm a big Portal fan," del Toro said. "But just as a wink. She's not cake-obsessed." And while McLain's voice will be less processed in the final version of the film, del Toro also said that he got permission from Valve to use the exact GLaDOS-styled voice in the trailer. Viewers will get to hear what the final GLaDOS-inspired dialogue sounds like when the movie hits theaters in July.
