AT&T has seen the writing on the wall (or the tablet on the sofa): the company is adding a number of new features to its U-verse app for iPhone and iPad today, because it noticed that "the remote control is no longer the main device sitting next to you on the couch." Some of the new features include the ability to use an iPhone or iPod touch as a remote control with a built in channel guide and DVR, as well as the ability to link and iPad to a U-verse receiver to access additional information (like sports scores or game schedules) through the app. U-verse subscribers will also have access to content from channels like HBO, Starz, and Encore through the iPhone and iPad apps. The apps also include social network integration to share what you're watching on Facebook or Twitter. AT&T also added access to live feeds of FOX News Channel and FOX Business Network for subscribers at the U-verse website. Both apps are available on the iTunes App Store, and all features are free to existing subscribers.
