Microsoft announces Xbox Live TV partners including Verizon, HBO, and Comcast
Microsoft, as rumored, has just announced a vast array of partnerships for its Xbox Live TV streaming service. The biggest news is that Verizon will team up with the company to bring FiOS power to the Xbox 360, which will enable customers who subscribe to both Verizon internet services and have an Xbox Live Gold membership to stream television shows using a Verizon-developed application. A similar deal has also been announced for Comcast subscribers.
New media company partnerships also being announced today include HBO, SyFy, Bravo, CinemaNow, Epix, and UFC, in addition to the 30-some partners Xbox already had.
There is no firm release date for the rollout yet, but Microsoft says the new services will arrive in time for the holidays, so we shouldn't have to wait long.
