I want my Vevo TV: the web's music video network launches always-on online broadcast
Mix of music videos, concert footage, interviews, and original programming launches today in the US and Canada
If you were born before 1993, you might remember a time when we had such a thing as "music television" — music videos of various genres, occasionally punctuated by concert footage and shows about musicians and their music, only rarely venturing into the phony dramatics of so-called reality television. Vevo TV's goal is to return to and refresh the concept.
The platform best known for syndicating official music videos on YouTube has been quietly building up a stable of original and exclusive programming. Today, Vevo gave those programs a new home. It's available today in the US and Canada, for the web, iPhone and iPad, Android, Windows Phone, and on your television set courtesy of Xbox or Roku.
