Xiaomi used to be accused of imitating Western competitors, but now the company is itself a target for copycats. Chinese manufacturer Doogee has unveiled an impressive-looking bezel-less handset named the Doogee Mix, and it’s almost a complete clone of Xiaomi’s Mi Mix handset, announced last year.

Like the Mi Mix, the Doogee has that bezel-less wow factor, with a display that seems to run off the edge of the handset on three sides. Doogee isn’t the first Chinese tech company to wave goodbye to the bezel, with a number of firms releasing cheap-ish phones with impressive displays.

The main differences between the Doogee Mix and Xiaomi’s Mi Mix are a smaller display, cheaper components, and the addition of a physical home button on the front. According to PhoneRadar, the Doogee Mix has a 5.5-inch, full HD AMOLED screen (compared to the Mi Mix’s 6.4-inch display), a MediaTek Helio P25 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage. A higher-end variant will bump these specs to a Helio X30, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. Both versions of the Mix have a dual-lens camera system on the rear (with 16MP and 8MP sensors) and a 5MP front-facing camera snuck into the bottom bezel at the front.

We don’t know pricing or availability for the Doogee Mix, and it’s very unlikely it’ll ever be seen outside of China. But still, its existence shows how quickly the bezel-less trend is spreading. Who knows, perhaps even the impressive display on the Galaxy S8 will look dated in a year’s time.
