Anyone looking at getting these headphone would've no doubt weighed up the option of the popular Solo HD beats by Dr. Dre. The verdict, they are both brilliant headphones with some subtle differences, the choice is down to preference.
The fanny wang headphones come with a detachable duo-jack cable (for sharing music with any other headphones) and a furry pouch (for storage of the cable and headphones). Both useful though the pouch could've benefited from being made from a harder, more protective material. Additionally the lack of a control talk cable for volume control or handling calls on an iPhone is missed, however this is an accessory Fanny wang are seeking to add in a later revision to the product.
The sound produced from these headphones is beautiful offering strong sound reproduction across the bass, mids and highs. Unlike the beats treble is not an afterthought with vocal sounds and instruments not lost to overwhelming bass.
I've used these to listen to drum & bass, hip-hop, classical and rock and can say that the fanny wangs perform as well as the beats in all of these categories bar drum & bass where I found the fanny wangs somewhat lacking in that heavy bass reproduction that beats are better at. That said bass reproduction in the wangs is still strong and not to be sniffed at. The wangs are, however much more capable than the beats with rock music and classical delivering a separation of instrumental sounds for enjoyable listening.
Overall I'd highly recommend these headphones especially to the fashion concious audiophile who would appreciate wearing a headphone that combines great sound with a pleasing aesthetic that is backed up by excellent build quality and a 2 year warranty. A cheaper alternative to beats, that is by no means outdone by its competition these should be given serious consideration in a buying decision.
