The 3rd generation iPod was thinner and lighter than it's previous generation thanks to the removal of the FireWire port which was replaced with a iPod Dock Connector. Four touch-sensitive, backlit action buttons were moved above the touch wheel. The 30GB version was slightly heavier and thicker at 6.2 ounces and 0.73" compared to 5.6 ounces 0.62" for the 10/15 GB versions.
