The GXR Mount A12 camera unit is designed to be used with Ricoh's GXR system. A camera unit like this only functions when used in conjunction with the Ricoh GXR. Unlike previous camera units offered for the GXR, the Mount A12 has no built-in lens. It instead offers a 12.3-megapixel APS-C sensor and an interchangeable Leica M mount. With this camera unit attached, Ricoh's GXR camera can be used with a wide array of M-mount lenses--a feature few cameras as small as the GXR can offer.
