The Atari 2600 Jr. was a low-cost version of the 2600 which was released in 1986, after Atari's Consumer Division was sold to Tramel Technology, because of financial problems caused by increased competition and overproduction. The 2600 Jr. was a redesigned version of the 2600, with the same internals, that came with one joystick instead of two and no paddle controllers. It was intended for a younger audience, with a price point below $50. Description |
