Released in 1983, Sega's SC-3000 was released as an extension of the SG-1000. It was marketed as a beginner's computer with the added ability of playing SG-1000 games. Being that it could play a library of games and users could write their own programs, the SC-3000 was more popular than the gaming-only SG-1000.
