The second generation Nook from Barnes & Noble ditches the touchscreen LCD menu bar of the first model while adding touch sensitivity to the 6-inch E Ink display. This results in the e-reader having a substantially more compact footprint, and the 16 levels of grayscale offer fifty percent greater contrast than the original Nook. The Kindle Touch is centered around a six inch infrared multi-touch E-Ink display. Navigation is performed through what Amazon refers to as EasyReach, which divides each page into three distinct touch areas. The new X-Ray feature complements purchased content by gathering all historical references and topics of interest within a given book and providing detailed information from Wikipedia and Shelfari for each. Integrated Wi-Fi allows free access to AT&T hotspots within the United States. |
