Canon's first entry into the mirrorless camera space, the Canon EOS M is an interchangeable-lens camera sharing specs with their entry-level DSLR, the Rebel T4i, but all within a compact magnesium body. The EOS M features an 18-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, a 3-inch touchscreen with 1.04m-dot resolution, and an ISO range expandable to ISO 25,600. Description |
The V1 is the higher-end (and therefore more expensive) of the two cameras that represented Nikon's entrance into the mirrorless interchangeable lens camera market. The new Nikon 1 series brought with it a new sensor size and a new lens mount (dubbed CX and Nikkor 1, respectively). Most notably, the V1 can take advantage of all Nikon F mount lenses when used in conjunction with an optional converter. The V1 features an accessory shoe port that allows it to utilize either an optional speedlight or GPS module. |
Successor to the NEX-5, the NEX-5N from Sony improves on its predecessor with a 16.1-megapixel CMOS sensor, a touch-friendly, angle-adjustable, 3-inch display, enhanced low-light sensitivity (up to ISO 25600), and 1080p AVCHD video recording. Sony does little by way of changing the NEX-5's style but incorporates more magnesium alloy throughout the camera's slim body. |
Similar to the NX200, Samsung's NX210 is a compact mirrorless camera that features a 20.3-megapixel CMOS sensor, 1080p video capture, and a 3-inch AMOLED display, but now includes built-in Wi-Fi. The NX210 uses i-Function, NX mount lenses to control camera functions with the dials on the lens and has GPS available as an option. |
The Lumix DMC-G5 may look like an SLR, but it's actually the ninth model in Panasonic's G-series line of mirrorless, micro four thirds cameras. The G5 has a 16-megapixel Live MOS sensor to accompany its built-in electronic viewfinder and 920,000-dot LCD touch panel. |
