The HTC Flyer falls into the category those devices that are not particularly good, except if you need to be able to do something specific.

    So it is a tool.

For years I have tried every known device to be able to record meeting notes electronically rather than with paper. My first device was a Casio in 1996 with a keyboard.

So what is it that led me to buy the Flyer? The stylus and the integration of the Notes application into Evernote. A perfect combination for someone who does what I do - manage a number of customers with regular meetings and minutes to record. The ability to time stamp an audio recording is essential for any project management discussions. Not having to carry notebooks with me particularly when traveling and always having all of the historical notes available is excellent.

Finally this device has set me free of paper, but there are plenty of opportunities for it to be improved. The hardware is definitely showing it's age and it is heavy. I hope that is due to the battery since that seems to last pretty well.

The overall score of 6 feels low relative to the Flyer's abilities and it's importance to my work. The fact is, there are not many devices that could replace it if I damaged it though Samsung appears to be heading in the right direction. A full size stylus is essential though if you are going to do a lot of writing.
