I bought these a year ago at an airport vending machine in Florida.
A month ago, one ear stopped working and I was really worried - no receipt, warranty documents, anything. I didn't even buy them in the UK, or from a real shop.
I kept putting off calling, worried about the outcome. Last week I finally got around to it, and Bose were excellent. Without doubt the best customer service ever. They weren't phased by my lack of details, the serial number (on one of the earphones itself) and a copy of the transaction (printed off from my bank's site) was fine.
I received a replacement pair in the post yesterday.
As for the earphones themselves - use the right size rubber bits (they come with three) and you won't feel them at all. In a good way. They won't fall out, they're totally secure, but secure in a way that doesn't scratch out your inner-ear. Five minutes later, you've forgotten they're there.
The sound is brilliant too - excellent range of frequencies, can easily hear a booming explosion and crisp dialogue with excellent clarity.
The price is high, but I think it's justified. I had a problem with my first pair, but they were replaced and the warranty renewed. My only complaint would be against my own ear-wax, occasionally leaving residue on the rubber... Upside is that the earphones are an excellent indicator of when you need to buy more cotton-buds.
